What is Musical Pet Therapy?

Musical Pet Therapy is original music composed for an animal on CD, which reflects the persona, aligns and centers the emotions, calms and uplifts, provides theraputic benefits, reduces stress, and helps the pet and owner bond and communicate.

How is the Music Created?

Through her sensitivity and deep love for all creatures, Dr. Grauer has the ability to "hear" and "feel" what the animals are "thinking" and "saying", tune into their emotions and translate their feelings into spontaneously created piano compositions which capture the Soul Essence of the subject. Each of the twelve astrological signs has a "Keynote" which corresponds to the twelve tones of the musical scale. If the birth month is known, the Horoscope becomes the musical signature of the animal.

Why is Musical Pet Therapy Beneficial to Pets?

Since ancient times music has been recognized as a valuable healing art. Pythagoras taught that all Life is formed and sustained by Harmony.  Science has proven the positive influence of music on plant life. All beings, human and animal, are connected by Divine Rhythm and Tones. Music energizes the body cells and causes them to move from a low energy state, as in disease or emotional distress, to a higher energy state associated with wellness.

How Does The Pet Owner Benefit From Musical Pet Therapy?

When music inspired by the animal's own uniqueness is literally "played back" to the pet and it's owner, the bond of love is strengthened. If a beloved pet has left this earth plane, the owner may wish to have music composed as a loving memorial. Music serves as a connector to the Souls of animals, whether they live with us or in the next dimension.

Does My Pet Have To Be ill To Benefit From Musical Pet Therapy?

Our pets are subject to the same stress that we are. All life responds to love. Music is the most natural vehicle to transmit love to our animal friends. The receptivity of animals is such that when the healing energies generated by music are experienced, harmony is restored to the spirit and feeling of well being takes place. The "destructive" emotions are "toned down" and the finer "soul" impulses are "played up".

Does Musical Pet Therapy Replace Veterinary Care?

When your pet displays physical symptoms, it is wise and necessary to consult a veterinary practitioner. Musical Pet Therapy works in "concert" with surgical procedures and medicine and helps provide a more complete and speedy recovery by stimulating the animal's natural healing process.

Does My Pet Have To Be Present To Receive Musical Pet Therapy?

Animals communicate almost entirely through mental telepathy. They send and receive mental pictures with no barriers of time and physical space. A consultation may be obtained by mail or telephone. When we speak of or write about our loving pet friends, we picture them at the same time. A photo may be submitted but is not necessary.

Is Musical Therapy Available For Pets Only?

All beings, human and animal are nurtured by music. Dr. Grauer also composes for people, although her musical ministry is especially dedicated to the Animal Kingdom. Additional services available for people include grief counseling, pet memorial services and prayer treatments for all life's challenges.

Joanne Grauer, D.D.,Ph.D., began playing piano at an early age. A respected jazz musician and composer, her abilities led her into performances in concerts, movies, T.V studios, nightclubs and theaters with Andy Williams, Paul Williams, Bud Shank, Gabor Szabo, Lily Tomlin and Michel Legrand. A former faculty member of the Dick Grove School of Music in Los Angeles, Joanne maintains a private teaching practice whose clients have included: Barbara Streisand, Ellen Burstyn, Audrey Hepburn, Clint Eastwood, Peter Bogdanovich, Ellen Barkin and Michael Feinstein.

Joanne has recorded her original music on her own label, DOG LADY RECORDS.

Her piano artistry may be heard on the soundtrack of the film "9/1/2 Weeks" which was composed by Jack Nitzche.

An active Science of Mind Practitioner and Religious Science Ordained Minister, Joanne has combined her love for animals and her composing gifts to create original individualized musical compositions especially for animals:cats, dogs, birds, fish, reptiles...all living creatures...and has dedicated her ministry to aiding their spirits.

Joanne believes that all animals are our teachers, and that the closer we are to nature, the closer we are to God.
